                Wheat is the most important cereal crop in India after paddy.  Wheat is cultivated on the farmlands of India.  It is a ravi crop of the temperate zone of the country.  It likes fertile loam or black soil and rainfall of up to 75 cm.  Wheat is not grown in areas with more than 100 cm of rainfall.  Wheat production in the country has doubled due to green revolution.  Wheat cultivation in India is mainly in western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
