After Sultan Muzaffar Shah, his grandson and Tatar Khan's son Ahmed Khan assumed the title of "Nasiruddin Ahmed Shah" and ascended the throne of Gujarat on January 10, 1911 at the age of 18. Ahmed Shah-1 was the true founder of the independent Muslim Sultanate in Gujarat. Ahmed Shah ruled Gujarat for 3 years. The capital of Gujarat was shifted from Patan to Ahmedabad.
